| One Western Big 6 baseball
doubleheader was being played on the day the all-league team was disclosed. Another
remains to be played next week. Thus, it appears the WB6 coaches have put the monkey
squarely on Galesburg's back in that last doubleheader, next Tuesday against 0-7 United
Township.
Galesburg, which has a 5-3 record, finished with the most all-WB6 picks -- four. The
Silver Streaks will need a sweep to match Alleman and Moline, who already own a share of
the conference title with 7-3 records. The Pioneers and Maroons received three and two
selections, respectively. Moline surged to the top Thursday with a twinbill sweep of
Quincy.
Rounding out the all-WB6 are two from Rock Island and one from Quincy.
Headlining the star list is Alleman senior Dylan Cross, who could be in line for the
triple crown with his .500 batting average, four home runs and 18 RBIs. He also leads the
league with 16 hits.
He's joined by pitching Pioneers Nate Just and Jeremy Hauer. Just, a senior, was 4-0
with a 4.45 ERA to go with a .391 batting average and 11 runs scored. Hauer, a junior, was
picked for the utility player spot, batting .323 with a league-best four doubles.
Matching Just's 4-0 was Rock Island junior Bryant
Loy, who pitched a league-high 34 innings
with an ERA of 1.44. The Rocks also had Zach Norris, a senior
infielder with a .313 average and a WB6-best
13 runs scored. Norris also had 7 RBIs.
Moline's star pair are junior outfielder Kevin Ryan and infielder Kirk Clark, the only
sophomore on the team. Ryan bolstered his league batting average to .438 with a 6-for-8 in
the Thursday sweep. Clark added his 8th RBI and upped his average to .389 in the sweep.
Needing a sweep vs. UT to garner a share of the WB6 crown, Galesburg checks in with the
most all-WB6 performers. The four are junior outfielder Cole Marty (who can threaten
Cross' triple-crown hopes, owning a .440 batting average -- 11-for-25), senior infielder
Jason Johnston (.393), senior catcher Joe Peachey (.375) and senior DH John Simkins (.300,
2-0 pitching record, 1.40 ERA).
Rounding out the team is Quincy's David Foster, a senior outfielder whose average
dropped from .500 to .357 with an 0-for-8 vs. Moline.

Zac Simpson
The Big 6 coaches decided on six honorable
mentions -- Moline senior outfielder Blake Boster, United Township senior outfielder Kyle
Dirck, RI junior infielder Zac Simpson, Moline junior infielder Justin Yount, UT junior infielder Mark Ramos and
Moline junior pitcher Chris Schwarz.
