- A 3-year starter for the varsity in center field Steve is a special player who has
worked very hard to be the best he can be.
- A 6'1" and 178 pound switch-hitting centerfielder who can be one one of the best in
the schools history, will no doubt be a high draft his senior year.
- Steve is a junior captain on our baseball team and is also a 2-sport player. On the Rock
Island Golf Team Steve is the #1 player for the school.
- Steve will be invited to tryout for the area code games this summer.
STEVE STRICKLER -- For the upcoming 98 season, I would like to accomplish many
tasks. I would like to lead the team to another State final appearance. I would like to
convince everybody that last years season was no fluke, but a preview of many
seasons to come. I would like to build confidence in the younger players, so they learn
the winning tradition established by the class of 1999. I would like to show everyone what
baseball in the Midwest is all about. Statistics are irrelevant. The progress and growth
of the team is the only thing on my mind right now. I feel great progress is being made
over the winter, and it will be reflected in the upcoming season. Of course, it would be
nice to hit .400 and rack up 50 RBIs, but if we get beat in the regional, the season
is a big disappointment. Looking to the future, I hope to attend a Division I college that
will further my advancement in baseball and in life.
