College wrestling
-- Rusk hosts youth camp: Former Orion High School state champ and Augustana College and University
of Illinois wrestler Steve Rusk is planning on hosting a youth wrestling camp, beginning
Feb. 26 and running through the first weekend of July. It will be held in the Augustana
wrestling room each Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
``When I was here, that's how I got so much better,'' said Rusk, recalling his
formative days. ``I want to get things picked back up in the area.''
One of the big draws for the camp is that Rusk is planning on bringing in guest
clinicians -- including former QC standouts as well as wrestlers from Coach Mark Johnson's
University of Illinois program as well as some from Iowa City.
The camp is open to wrestlers through high school age and will touch on folkstyle,
freestyle and Greco wrestling. The cost will be $100 per wrestler. Part of the camp will
include meets against other programs and also tournament competition.
For further information, contact Steve Rusk at (309) 786-9345.
