- - - Rock Island 9, Sherrard 2: Luke Depron was 3-for-3, drove in four runs and scored twice to spearhead the Rocks' 10-hit attack in the non-conference home victory. Grant Snyder added two hits, including a double, for the 7-2 Rocks who scored four in the fourth and five in the fifth.

That made for easy work for winning pitcher Chris Watters (2-0), who fanned seven, walked none and gave up five hits in six innings of work. Sophomore Brett Gadient closed out the game with a perfect seventh.
